The Bannon Open Songwriting Awards are open to everyone age 18 or older, regardless of songwriting experience level or professional status.

Entry fees for the BOSAs is a flat-rate of $12.50 U.S. per song entered. A single song may be entered into multiple categories, however each entry of a song into a new category is considered a separate entry and the entry fee will be applied. For instance, if you enter just one song into the BOSAs, but place it in 2 separate categories your entry fee would be $25.00 U.S., just the same as if you entered 2 different songs.

Each song submitted must be entered into one (or more) of the listed categories, and accompanied by a completed entry form and typed lyric sheets (when applicable).

By signing the entry form, you give Bannon Productions permission to duplicate your song(s) for the purpose of including them on our Showcase Recordings. Duplication is of your original recording only and our Showcase Recordings are used only to provide you, the artist, the opportunity to be heard by interested music professionals. No other use is made of these recordings or your material. You, the artist, retain full rights to your own material.

You may enter as many songs as you want, however each tape submitted may only contain up to three songs. To enter more than three songs additional tapes are required. CD submissions may contain as many songs as the CD will hold.

Tapes, CD's or other materials sent by you to Bannon Productions for entry into the BOSAs competitions are not returned to the artist. The volume of entries we receive simply makes returning materials to artists far too time consuming and costly for us. Even when the artist includes a S.A.S.E. for the return, it takes time and manpower to send the entries back.

We do keep all entry materials (tapes, CD's, lyric sheets, completed Entry Forms and other information sent with entries) in storage for legal purposes for a period of not less than 2 years, and in the event that you would absolutely need your material returned (provided it's within the two year period and still available) we will do so for a small fee.

You may enter one song into multiple categories, but each submission into a new category will count as an additional song entry, and should be listed separately for each category entered into.

All songs are judged strictly upon originality, melody, lyrics (when applicable), and overall composition by a panel of judges consisting of songwriters, musicians, and other media-related persons. The performance and production are not considered in the judging, however since the best songs from each category will be showcased to Music Industry Professionals we encourage everyone to send their best efforts.

All prizes awarded to the best songs in each category range from (but are not limited to) Award Plaques or Certificates, books and manuals on the craft of songwriting, gift certificates, cash prizes and other music related items. All prizes are determined by Bannon Productions and are non-negotiable, nor can they be substituted for other prizes, except for availability reasons as determined by Bannon Productions.

Bannon Productions and the Bannon Open Songwriting Awards produce and distribute the Showcase Recordings as a courtesy to you the artist, however has and makes no claims towards any rights to your material. As the songwriter/composer, you retain all rights to your material and any negotiations for publishing, recording or any other use of your song(s) will be strictly between yourself and the interested party. There are no claims or guarantees of publication, recording or other use of your material by any industry professionals made by Bannon Productions or The Bannon Open Songwriting Awards.

All winners will be notified personally within 45 days of the competition round entry deadline, with the top category entries being published on the Winners pages of this web site.
